Music with Mark:
Love is one of, if not my favourite track on the album. It was a demo called "Flow into the Wall". I had just installed a new fuzz box on my pedal board and was experimenting with a washed out distortion sounds. I basically hit record and jammed out the pieces then chopped it together in an editor. Some programming later and I had a very crude demo with low expectations. Rock surprised me by sending vocals a few days later. He did such a good job that i had to redo all my guitar parts to match what he was bringing on this song. I am most proud of the chorus chords, stripped of the white washed fuzz tones they are really pretty voicing. I am totally ripping off Glassjaw with that approach. There is also a nifty little half-tone scale "lick" at 0:33 that people seem to like. So, thanks!
Chatter with Rock:
It was one of those love at first listen moments, that as a writer are very exciting! Really peeling the pop layers of my musical interests drawing inspiration from bands like Savage Garden and Maroon 5 who write killer melodies! The song was so damn funky I knew I had to do this right away! I improvised most of the song and stayed up till 4 am arranging it.
Lyrically this was one of those tunes where I was totally out of my comfort zone... staying away from my anti conformist stances on most social issues, relationship drudgery and angry throwbacks to my youth... instead I wanted something fun, cause fun is sexy right?? Playing in bars every weekend you meet a lot of people, and lets face it chicks dig band guys. It's about that moment when you're on stage and you lock eyes with someone and it's like... yeah I'll see you later. A different kind of cocky, but fun at the same time!

Love
- R. Johnson/M. Pineo
Start it off with a little soul
Top it with off with a rock n roll
Head down,focus, and groove
I'm gonna take you home
I like it that way
I could be your mistake
But tonight right here I'm everything
He's watching you, I got you locked
And you don't seem to mind at all
Hey, were you looking at me?
Hey, hey you looking at me?
Sparks could fly, don't you speak
Pretty smile and face
I know you came here all alone
Nobody watching when we get home
Get love
All in how you take it
Fake it till you make it
What's that thing?
That's love
Make's a body faint
Selling what you ain't
That's how you get to love
Do you like it that way
Want another mistake
But tonight right here can't promise anything
He's calling you, I got him blocked
And you don't seem to mind at all
Hey, you looking at me?
Hey, hey you looking at me?
Sparks could fly, don't you speak
Pretty smile and face
I know you came here all alone
Nobody watching when we get home
Get love
All in how you take it
Fake it till you make it
What's that thing?
That's love
Make's a body faint
Selling what you ain't
That's how you get to love
I'm gonna take you home
He thinks you're coming home
But I'm gonna take you home
Solo
Get love
All in how you take it
Fake it till you make it
What's that thing?
That's love
Make's a body faint
Selling what you ain't
That's how you get to love
All in how you take it
Fake it till you make it
What's that thing?
That's love
Make's a body faint
Selling what you ain't
That's how you get to love
