about

Music With Mark
The first song we ever did together! I wanted to compose a song without any effort and this is it. The initial seed for the track was the main lead riff. I put some chords under there, then based the rest of the song from there. Not much thought went into it really. I kinda write that way. Get one part, what's next, what's next, what's next until i am happy. Rock is one of the most powerful vocalists i have ever worked with and the first time i heard the embellished chorus at the end it blew me away. I knew i had to work with this guy.

Chatter With Rock
Well like Mark said this was the first song we tackled, I was kind of nervous about doing it as my recording set up at the time was pretty minimal, but as usual Mark worked wonders with his skill as a producer and I was blown away with the difference in the track he sent me back. I chose this song cause it made me want to do that "Night at the Roxbury" thing with my head. Upbeat and catchy despite the lyrical content :)

Lyrically it's about a person who lives their life by the opinion of everyone else. Someone who hides behind excuses to avoid making a wrong decision and always having someone else to blame.

lyrics

I don't want to fix you life
I don't want you to be sorry
I don't want to change your mind
Or dig into all the glory

Hiding behind your crucifix
With such shallow intentions
The fake smile you wear
Lead to believe
You'd be better off alone

It might seem jaded and trite
To slander such famous stories
You can buy into the hype
Of the prestigious and phony

Hiding behind your crucifix
With such shallow intentions
The fake smile you wear
Lead to believe
You'd be better off alone

Straying at times you might
Always tempted to give in
Defining wrong from right
In the end all forgiven

Cleansed & new
Cleansed & new
Burying you

Hiding behind your crucifix
With such shallow intentions
The fake smile you wear
Lead to believe
You'd be better off alone
Hiding behind
That fake smile
Makes me believe
You'll be better off alone
